Several of the team participated in the annual SAAWK conference. The conference aims to promote the use and development of Afrikaans for use in science. Students had to present their research findings in Afrikaans to a panal of judges who then awarded prizes based on their research and language use.
The day was a great success and two of our honours students Lorinda van Wyk and Michelle Reinhardt did us proud winning 1st and 3rd prize for their poster flash presntations. Chantal Scholtz also presented a full talk on the synthesis of fluorine containg molecules using flow chemisty in the PhD catagory.
