Arkivoc Regional issue – Organic Chemistry in South Africa

We were recently invited to contribute to an Arkivoc Regional Issue focused on Organic Chemistry in South Africa. Read guest editor Prof Willem A. L. van Otterlo’s preface to the two-part special edition here.

We were able to contribute two articles to the issue, the first entitled “Binding pose analysis of hydroxyethylamine based β-secretase inhibitors and application thereof to the design and synthesis of novel indeno[1,2-b]indole based inhibitors” detailed Johan van der Westhuizen and Divan van Greunen’s efforts to identify novel neuroprotective agents through a combination of computer aided drug design and sturcture activity relationship studies.

In the second paper “A concise, rapid and high yielding flow synthesis of aryldiazonium tetrafluoroborates” Chantal Scholtz reported the development of a fast flow-based approach to access aryldiazonium tetrafluoroborates.
